Memorial to Burned Books

My “memorial” for the burned books would be more of an exhibition in the Berlin State Library for a given amount of time. This exhibition would simply be a series of cloth flaps, which would cover up the books that were ordered to be destroyed by the Nazis. The installation would also include similar flaps (in a different color, as to be differentiated), which would cover books that are banned in certain countries today. These flaps would be a different color. Around the library, there would be information about the burning of books under the Nazi regime, as well as information about why certain books are banned in around the world today. The cloth flaps would not prevent people from checking out the books but would intentionally pose somewhat of an inconvenience for the person trying to look at or check out the book.
